What to document
- Each room, fixture, appliance, and existing wear at move-in
- The same angles at move-out so the two records can be compared
- Keys, meters, or inventory items that later become points of dispute
Capture and seal
Use Picture or Video from the FactLockCam hub. Each capture gets a SHA-256 fingerprint and a signed canonical manifest. Keep the encrypted items in your archive until you need to share them.
Context that does not rewrite the file
Add a title such as "Unit 4B kitchen — move-in" and a short description. That context is for the recipient. It is not a substitute for the sealed media or the signed record.
Share a package they can open themselves
Send Proof produces a .flcproof file. Share it out of band and keep the password
separate. The other party opens factlockcam.com/open, selects the file,
and inspects it in the browser. Nothing is uploaded to FactLockCam.
What verification shows
A passing verification shows that the inspected file matches the recorded fingerprint and that the signed metadata has not changed. It verifies the exact file and signed record; the full scope is on the threat model page.
